The Hounds

A little while ago my cousin told us about her brothers new company, The Hounds.  I was happy for Adam and excited to support him in any way that I could. I have always talked about how I have such a giving heart.  I feel that I am always trying to help someone, whether they be in need or just need a little extra love, I am always wanting to help anyone out.  Adam’s company is another way to help those in need. If you are interested in purchasing you can do so here.

“How It Works

That’s where you come in. For every shirt purchased, The Hounds will provide a school uniform to a child in need. The uniforms are distributed via local nonprofits already working in communities across the country. Our pilot partner is the organization, Inner City Impact (ICI). ICI was established over 40 years ago and maintains ties within the communities they serve. Located on the westside of Chicago, it provides kids across the city with tutoring, mentoring, after-school programs, and sleepaway camps just to name a few. Many families rely upon ICI to be a helping hand as they seek to raise their kids well.

Every shirt you purchase provides a child with a school uniform. The process is simple.

You SHOP for your size and color. Once you make a PURCHASE, The Hounds ships your order directly to you. Afterwards a uniform DONATION is made to local partner organizations so that a child receives a much needed uniform.”

“Our Story

The Hounds Ltd is a happy collision of founder Adam Muncy’s love of fashion and philanthropy. His background working with inner city youth birthed in him a desire to help the underserved. This time left an impression on him over the years. And he mulled over creative ways to walk alongside those breaking out of the poverty cycle. Out of these ruminations, The Hounds was created.

The Hounds combines Adam’s love of fashion with helping kids. Its mission is to provide school uniforms to underprivileged kids for every oxford shirt purchased. For the economically challenged, school uniforms can be a financial burden that’s hard to overcome. Education is a vital necessity in a child’s life. It provides a world of opportunity to a child seeking to break out of poverty. And many schools require uniforms for each student. When thinking of ways to help, Adam had conversations with nonprofits who consistently mentioned the need to help families with school uniforms. These uniforms have been shown to reduce bullying, help students focus on school and build school pride.”

I am so proud of Adam for pursuing his dreams and trying to make the world a better place, one shirt/uniform at a time.  I know he would appreciate all the support anyone would like to give him.

Tie Dye – DIY

Today I am sharing a fun Tie Dye – DIY that I did with the girls.  I am not sure how but growing up I never tie-dyed anything.  We were walking through Target one day and they had kits on clearance for $2.98 so of course I couldn’t pass it up.  We got all the supplies we needed and the girls and I (with Matt’s help of course) tie-dyed our first ever shirts.

Tie-Dye kit or (bottles, dye, rubber bands, & gloves)

  1. The first thing you want to do is set up a station.  You want somewhere that the dye can run to and won’t ruin anything.
  2. Next you want to pick your shirt design and then rubber band it accordingly.
  3. Then you will fill your dye bottles with the dye powder and then add water to the fill line.
  4. Next you want to take everything to your station and put on your gloves.

  5. Then you will start dying.  We pre-chose which sections would be what colors so it would be a little easier for the girls.

  6. After you have the shirt completely covered in dye then you want to cover it in plastic wrap or we just grabbed a freezer bag and placed them in there for 6-8 hours (the longer it sits the deeper the color).

  7. After they have sat for 6-8 hours then you can take them out of the bag and rinse them off.  You will rinse to get all the extra dye off the shirt.
  8. Then you want to wash and dry it using the hottest water possible for the fabric.

Have you ever tie-dyed a shirt? How did it turn out?

Covenant Gear – Giveaway

I am so excited to be sharing this company with you.  I am part of a group of bloggers where we share exciting and up and coming things.  One of the bloggers mentioned Covenant Gear – for a giveaway.  She wants to help her friend spread the word and share her amazing new clothing company and what they are doing.

Covenant Gear™ has one single mission: to inspire the world to remember and reclaim the many promises of God through beautifully designed, hand-lettered, high quality clothing. What is a covenant? Simply put it’s a promise, a commitment to fulfill from one being to another. In the Bible, the Lord established numerous promises or covenants between He and His people – promises for protection, healing, unconditional love, forgiveness and eternal security.

When Jesus came to earth, his life, death and resurrection fulfilled the greatest covenant of all: a promise to restore; to give mankind new life – both now and forever. A life surrendered to Jesus would mean not only a permanent home in heaven for all eternity, but a triumphant life here and now.

We believe the world is ready for Covenant Gear for many reasons but for one in particular: it’s time to get back to the basics – the Bible. God cannot lie, and His promises are guaranteed. If we follow Him and daily walk in the countless promises found in His Word, we cannot fail.

We want you to Wear the Promise.
